Zuraida remains a minister?
PUTRAJAYA - Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin is believed to have maintained her position in the cabinet as Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister.
It was learnt that Zuraida met with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob this morning before the cabinet meeting.
According to the schedule given to the media, Zuraida was scheduled to fly to Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, today to attend the 2022 Malaysian Cocoa Industry Award Ceremony organised by the Malaysian Cocoa Board at 7.45pm.
Earlier, Zuraida had arrived at the Perdana Putra building at 9.25am to attend the cabinet meeting.
Last Thursday, Ismail Sabri had announced to reporters that he would meet Zuraida before the cabinet meeting to discuss the position of the Ampang MP.
Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin previously claimed that Zuraida's position was given to the party due to the party's quota.
He said the position of a minister was always a part of the promise between Ismail Sabri and PN leaders.
Ismail Sabri, while in Tokyo, Japan, stated Zuraida was still a cabinet minister and must attend to her duties as usual until a decision was made.
On May 26, Zuraida, through a statement announced that she had left Bersatu to join Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) and stepped down from her position as a minister.
Before joining Bersatu, Zuraida held the position of Vice President of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) before being fired after she left the party with several other MPs, which eventually brought down the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government through the Sheraton Move.
