'I've waited for two weeks to meet the PM' - Muhyiddin
KUALA LUMPUR – Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said he wants the issue over the parliamentary seat held by Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin to be resolved as soon as possible.
He said Bersatu has stated its stance that the seat belonged to the party and that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob must make the best possible decision. "I am waiting for a date to meet the Prime Minister. I ask for the Prime Minister to prioritise the matter as the date of Zuraida's announcement that she was leaving the party has been more than two weeks. That is a long time.
"I am not going to make any comments regarding Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM). I only care about Bersatu and our position in the government, which is part of the agreement between the Prime Minister and the leadership of Perikatan Nasional (PN)," he said during a press conference after the #RuangBelia programme at the Sime Darby Convention Centre, here on Tuesday.
On May 26, Zuraida who is the Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister had announced that she was leaving Bersatu to join PBM.
However, he said position has yet to be decided by Ismail Sabri who stressed that the Ampang MP was still a cabinet minister and must carry out her duties as usual until a decision is reached.
Zuraida was also reported to have said that she hoped that her position would be maintained in a meeting with Ismail Sabri that is set to take place soon.
Meanwhile, Muhyiddin said Bersatu has a candidate for the position and was just waiting for the right time to inform the Prime Minister.
"We are only seeking for quota. I am asking the Prime Minister expedite the matter. I have been asking to see him for two weeks," he said.
