SHAH ALAM - Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin, president-designate of Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) has told Malaysians to say "no" to racism and to set aside differences for the sake of the country.

"PBM urges the rakyat to say no to any form of racism.

"The future starts with us today. We are all part of Malaysia and we need to strengthen the multicultural and racial foundation and remain together facing the challenges ahead," she said in a statement.

The Ampang MP said Malaysia does not have a place for bigotry. "We do not have to leave the elements of racism and extremists destroy the structure of this country," she said.

Her party's main pillars, she added is cultural diversity. Others are women and youth empowerment, economic development, education, scientific and technological development.

She said PBM welcomes Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob's recent call to adopt the concept pf tolerance or 'tasamuh' as long as it does not go against the principles of Islam.

"This is in line with the Keluarga Malaysia concept, the hallmark of his administration. Tolerance and racial understanding are essential for the prosperity of our beloved country's future," she said.
