Telco CEO nabbed for suspicion of graft
JOHOR BAHRU - Johor Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) had arrested a chief executive officer (CEO) of a telecommunications company under the suspicion of accepting bribery.
According to a source, the man aged 43-years-old was arrested in the Selangor MACC office, around 8pm last Monday after his statement was recorded.
"He was suspected to have asked and received bribery totalling around RM200,000 from a company towards giving the latter a development project.
"The bribe was believed to be a bump towards giving a project for the building and maintenance of a telecommunications tower valued almost RM50 million," the source said when contacted on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Datuk Azmi Alias, Johor MACC director when contacted verified the arrest and said the case is being investigated under Section 16 (a) (A) of the MACC Act 2009.
He said the suspect was arrested and remanded for four days after Johor MACC since Tuesday.
