What quarrel? Just political whims between Umno-PAS, says Takiyuddin
SHAH ALAM - Pas leader Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan has said Umno and Pas are still in good relationship, stating there is "no quarrel" within them.
The party secretary-general further said both parties are in the government and there are no problems at federal or state level.
“These are just political whims, there are no quarrels within us.
“Umno and Pas are both in the federal government, so there are no issues,” he said during the press conference for the non-solar source incentive tariff quota offer at Wisma Sumber Asli, today.
Umno leaders facing court charges such as Umno President Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak have been pushing for elections this year. They had said elections should be held as soon as possible as people were backing Barisan Nasional as seen in Melaka and Johor state elections.
However, Takiyuddin said general elections is not a priority at the moment since the government is stable especially after gaining support from the opposition.
“To me, elections are not the priority.
“The government is stable, with support from parties, including the opposition. There is no reason why elections should be held in a hurry,” he added.
On June 5, Umno Veteran Datuk Seri Nazri Abdul Aziz encouraged for for Muafakat Nasional to be continued despite Zahid’s refusal to do so.
“I am strongly promoting the cooperation and advocating this. We have shown that we are able to work together in Parliament and function well in several states,” said Takiyuddin, the energy and natural resources minister.
