ASEAN quiz competition for younger generation
KUALA LUMPUR - The 2022 ASEAN National Quiz Competition, which is being held for a month starting June 1, aims to increase the knowledge and understanding of Malaysians, especially the younger generation, on cultural, socio -political, socio-economic and sports aspects in the ASEAN region.
Director of the Media and Corporate Communications Division, Information Department (JaPen), Datuk Sivabalan Ethirmanasingham said the biennial online competition organised by JaPen was a major programme under the ASEAN-COCI Calendar (ASEAN Committee on Culture and Information) and had entered its tenth edition this year.
"This competition is organised to promote a culture of reading among the community as well as to test their knowledge of ASEAN through reading," he said after being a guest on the Selamat Pagi Malaysia show in Angkasapuri on Sunday morning.
The competition being held from June 1 to 30 is divided into two categories namely for school children aged 15 to 17 years and an open category for individuals aged 18 years and above.
A total cash prize of RM19,000 is being offered.
