Labourer charged with raping teen daughter
PASIR MAS - A labourer was charged at the Sessions Court, here, today with raping his 14-year old daughter in Tanah Merah, two weeks ago.
No plea was recorded when the charge was read to the 39-year-old man before senior assistant registrar Rozaidi Yaakob.
According to the charge sheet, the accused had allegedly raped the teen at a house in Tanah Merah at noon, on May 31.
The offence under Section 376(2)(d) of the Penal Code carries an imprisonment for a term of not less than 10 years and not more than 30 years, and shall also be liable to whipping, if convicted.
Deputy public prosecutor Ahmad Syafiz Aizat Nazri prosecuted while the accused was unrepresented.
During the proceedings, Ahmad Syafiq did not offer bail as the accused was charged with a serious offence.
The case has been set for mention on Aug 15.
It was reported that a labourer was believed to have raped his daughter who is now 14-years old for four years.
The suspect was arrested after the teen and her school counsellor lodged a report against the man at the Tanah Merah district police headquarters at 11.55am on May 31.
