Squid Game is set to return for a second season, confirmed its director, writer and executive Hwang Dong-Hyuk.

Netflix released a brief teaser along with a message from Dong-hyuk to fans of the show, giving hints on which characters are returning.

“It took 12 years to bring the first season of ‘Squid Game’ to life last year. But it took 12 days for ‘Squid Game’ to become the most popular Netflix series ever.

“And now, Gi-hun returns. The Front Man returns. Season 2 is coming. The man in the suit with ddakji might be back. You’ll also be introduced to Young-hee’s boyfriend, Cheol-su.

“Join us once more for a whole new round,” he wrote.

Fans may recall Young-hee as the creepy giant doll robot that lead previous contestants through a bloody version of the “Red Light, Green Light” game.

Squid Game season featured nine episodes, starring Lee Jung-Jae (New World, Assassination) and Park Hae-Soo (Time to Hunt, Prison Playbook).

The series revolves around the mysterious invitation to a game sent to people who are in dire need of money.

A total of 456 participants joins the game at a secret location as they gamble with their lives playing Korean traditional children’s game for the chance of winning 45.6 billion.
