Second fire at Datuk Keramat Market not due to mischief
KUALA LUMPUR - There is no element of mischief linked to the cause of the fire at Pasar Datuk Keramat, here, yesterday.
Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department director Nordin Pauzi said the inspection had been carried out by the forensic team and K-9 unit at the scene.
“Preliminary investigations conducted at the scene found no elements of mischief.
"No fuel was detected, which led to the incident.
“We will conduct further inspections on the supply and connection of electrical wiring at the location," Nordin said.
He said, however, that the department was still waiting for a full report to find out the actual cause of the fire.
On Saturday, Datuk Keramat Market caught fire again in an early morning incident after the same incident occurred in March last year.
Chief Operations Commander Mohd Fahmi Abdul Rahim said, his team received an emergency call about the incident at 1.30am before 47 members from Keramat Police Fire Station, Hang Tuah, Wangsa Maju, Jalan Tun Razak and Setapak fire stations five trucks were rushed to the location.
The fire involved a lot of shops with estimated destruction of 50 per cent due to materials of the building which consisted of wood and some houses nearby were estimated to have suffered about 10 per cent destruction.
