Canadian singer Justin Bieber revealed he has been diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome which has caused him to experience partial facial paralysis.

The revelation comes after the Grammy winner postponed three shows on his 2022 Justice World Tour earlier this week.

He was due to perform in Toronto, Washington DC and New York.

In an Instagram video, he revealed how the condition is stemmed from a virus that has damaged the nerves in his ear as well as facial nerves - this is what causes the partial facial paralysis.

“As you can see, this eye is not blinking.

"I can't smile with this side of my face, this nostril will not move, so there is full paralysis on this side of my face,” he explained in the video.

The Ghost singer then addressed his fans’ frustrations on the cancellation of his shows.

“For those who are frustrated by my cancellations of the next shows, I’m just physically, obviously not capable of doing them,” he said.

“This is pretty serious as you can see.” “I wish this wasn’t the case but obviously my body is telling me I gotta slow down.

“I hope you guys understand, and I’ll be using this time to just rest and relax and get back to 100 per cent so I can do what I was born to do,” he said.

"I'm doing all these facial exercises to get my face back to normal and it will go back to normal, it's just time.

“We don’t know how much time it’s going to be, but it’s going to be okay,” he added.

According to Healthline, Ramsay Hunt syndrome happens when shingles affects nerves in your face close to either one of your ears.

“With this syndrome, facial paralysis is noticeable on the side of the face that’s affected by the shingles rash.

“When your face is paralysed, the muscles may feel harder or impossible to control, as if they’ve lost their strength,” wrote Healthline in its website.

As part of his Justice World Tour, Bieber is also set to perform in Kuala Lumpur this October.
