KUALA LUMPUR – Former Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador explains that the picture of him said to be selling vegetables is an old picture of him visiting his friend's stall.

He said at that time, he was visiting a friend’s stall when a passerby took a photo of them.

"The viral photo is not a big issue as I am now enjoying my retirement.

"I am free to do as I please as long as it is halal and not against the law," he said on Wednesday.

Hamid also said he had experience selling vegetables from his farms at the market as well as mini markets in Seremban, Rembau and Kajang.

He added that individuals should not be ashamed or embarrassed in any trade or job, even if it was selling vegetables on the side of the street or at the market.

Last Sunday, a Twitter user uploaded a picture of Hamid in front of a stall selling vegetables.

The user praised Hamid's humbleness and courage to sell vegetables in the market despite having been the police’s top gun at one point in his career.

While he was still the IGP, Hamid had stated that he always loved the idea of being in the agricultural field after retirement so that he could continue a healthy routine.

He was excited when his retirement came through in May last year and started giving his full attention to what the agricultural field was like in his hometown at Kampung Panchang, Rembau, Negeri Sembilan.
