Professor Datuk Dr Raduan Che Rose says the National Professors Council (MPN) could provide a framework for Malaysians abroad to be linked to appropriate local agencies.

PUTRAJAYA - The National Professors Council (MPN) has started a cooperation with Malaysians overseas to contribute to the country without having to return to Malaysia.

Its President Professor Datuk Dr Raduan Che Rose said his party uses a "brain gain" approach.

"We are aware of Malaysian talents migrating to other countries but the process cannot be stopped as they seek knowledge and for better opportunities," he said.

He said one of the ways under their brain gain programme was to have a database of Malaysians overseas. He said they could also provide a framework of Malaysian talents and link them to local agencies.

However, he said cooperation with strategic partners is needed to strengthen the programme.

"As academics, we are always ready to work with all parties, including Talent Corporation Malaysia Berhad (TalentCorp)," he said at a press conference after the ‘Keluarga Malaysia National Development Framework’ roundtable discussion here.

He was commenting on a special report by Sinar Harian that Malaysia lost about 500,000 highly skilled and talented people from various professions to work abroad over the past 40 years.

Some big names such as surgeons Dr Amalina Che Bakri, Dr Ahmad Syahid Ahmad Fawzal and Fakhirah Khairuddin are some of the young Malaysians who are currently serving abroad in their respective fields.
