KOTA BELUD: Warisan President Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal admits that it is necessary to form cooperation with local parties, especially from Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS).

He said it was also necessary to listen to the grassroots voices where there should be a coalition with local parties in the state.

“Among them that I see is PBS because I have known our friends since before. We also went to the same school with Maximus (PBS President Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili), and I was a Cabinet minister with him back then.

“Besides, I also knew leadership at the grassroots level.

“I think if that is an option, I told the leadership of Warisan it will not be a problem (to cooperate) if it is PBS,” he told reporters after attending the Kaamatan Warisan Open House at Dewan Kadamaian Square yesterday.

He said this after being asked to comment on his speech publicly stating that he wanted to work with PBS.

However, the Semporna Member of Parliament once again stated his stance to first strengthen his party and leave it to PBS whether to cooperate or not.

“I have issued a statement, but so far I want to build our ‘house’ first, strengthen our house first and for the locals, I don’t mind if PBS wants it, if they don’t then it’s up to them,” he said.
