No camp in Bersatu - Ahmad Faizal
PUTRAJAYA- Bersatu deputy president Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu has denied the existence of a camp in the party.
He said all leaders in Bersatu were determined to support the party's president, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
“I do not believe (that there is a camp) and I am very confident that the party is going strong,” he said in a press conference at the Youth and Sports ministry, here, on Friday.
He was commenting on speculations that there were two camps in the party – camp Muhyiddin and camp Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali.
Faizal said Azmin, along with him and Secretary-General Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin supported Muhyiddin’s leadership.
Meanwhile, commenting on Pejuang Chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s statement on collaborations between the opposition parties, Faizal said he respected the latter’s view.
He said if Muhyiddin was given another chance to lead the Federal government, the Pagoh Member of Parliament (MP) would be able to give the best performance to the country.
“I am very confident,” he said.
Earlier, Dr Mahathir said he acknowledged the importance of the cooperation between the opposition under the 'big tent' approach, but not if it was led by either Muhyiddin or PKR's Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
Faizal, however refused to comment further on the question of whether Muhyiddin had a total of 119 votes of the MPs
“I do not have the information on this and I cannot comment,” he said.
Last Monday, Warisan president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal claimed that Muhyidin had contacted him to gain his support for him to be the Prime Minister again.
He said that Muhyiddin informed him that he had the backing of 119 MPs in the Dewan Rakyat.
