KUALA LUMPUR - Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has said that he will “talk” to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob on the right time to hold 15th general elections (GE15).

“We need to (start) making preparations for the next general elections. Although some may want to know for sure when GE15 will be held, let the prime minister and me discuss and determine the best time for us to face elections,” he said during the Barisan Nasional (BN) Convention at the World Trade Centre here today.

He also said that BN should not be careless as the GE15 would take place at any time since the last general election was held four years ago.

“The preparations to face the general election have reached its optimum peak.

“I really hope every BN’s component will be involved in the election’s technical works. We need to work and be ready to win,” he said while quoting Sun Tzu’s ‘Victorious warriors win first and then go to war, while defeated warriors go to war first and seek to win’.

Earlier, former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak had told two top Umno leaders to discuss with the prime minister “to help him make the right choice” and to take the “right position” to hold the 15th General Elections (GE15).

“This is not about Zahid Hamidi or Najib or Ismail Sabri Yaakob, it is about BN and the country’s future,” Najib had said.

This comes after Ismail Sabri indicated that he is in no rush to call for a general election anytime soon.
