SHAH ALAM - After her statement on "women are not born to be leaders" with Sinar Daily's Politically Frank went viral, Datuk Nurulhidayah Ahmad Zahid says women are part of the "leadership team" for men.

"It is not a problem to be part of the leadership team, for instance to be an MP, state assemblyman or even a company owner (Untuk menjadi sebahagian dari team kepimpinan menurut pendapat sy tidak menjadi masalah, sebagai contoh Ahli Parlimen, Ahli Dewan Undangan Negeri atau pemilik syarikat sekali pun).

"What I meant is the top leadership such as the Prime Minister, Chief Minister, Menteri Besar and others in the same rank (Yg sy maksudkan adalah pucuk kepimpinan tertinggi seperti Perdana Menteri, Menteri Besar, Ketua Menteri dan yg seangkatan dengannya), she said in her Instagram page, @nurul.zahid.

She was referring to a question posed by Sinar Daily on her take on women’s rights and female representation in politics.

In the video she replied: “I think women are not born to be a leader (sic). A man are (sic) born to be a leader. So, I think for human right (sic), for women right (sic), I think everyone should have the rights. Because we are all human."

She quoted Quranic verse 34 of Al-Nisa which states that "men are the managers of the affairs of women for that God has preferred in bounty one of them over another, and for that they have expended of their property".

She further said although women are considered noble but they need to be someone who supports the success and weaknesses of men (Walaupun setinggi mana dan sehebat manapun wanita, jadilah wanita yg sentiasa menjadi pendukung kejayaan dan kelemahan bagi mereka yang bergelar lelaki).

However, she states: "without women, who are men.. haa gitewwwwww".
