Suspected cases were chickenpox, HFMD, not monkeypox, says KJ
PUTRAJAYA - As Thailand reports its first case of monkeypox, Malaysia's health ministry said there are no similar cases in the country yet.
Its minister, Khairy Jamaluddin said the results carried out by the laboratory on three suspected cases found that two of them were chickenpox while the other was hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD).
"Updates on monkeypox, the three suspected cases found are chickenpox (two cases) and HFMD," he tweeted.
Thailand recorded its first case of smallpox on Tuesday when a passenger en route from Europe who was transiting at Bangkok’s international airport for about two hours to Australia was spotted symptomatic.
The individual had blisters on his face and body as well as had a history of close contact with an infected person in the past 21 days and traveled from a country with reported monkeypox cases.
