PKR polls: Underdog Rafizi leads in Selangor, Melaka against Saifuddin

SHAH ALAM - Underdog Rafizi Ramli has so far won the Selangor and Melaka party polls against Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution as both eye for the party number 2 seat, left vacant after Datuk Seri Azmin Ali quit PKR in 2020.

Rafizi garnered 2.437 votes against Saifuddin's 1,464 votes from Masjid Tanah, Alor Gajah, Tangga Batu, Hang Tuah Jaya, Kota Melaka and Jasin divisions.

As for the vice president's post, Hang Tuah Jaya MP Shamsul Iskandar Md Akin received 1,603 votes, followed by former Kapar MP G Manivanan (1,604), Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Aminudin Harun (1,574), Tanjung Malim MP Chang Lih Kang (1,531) Setiawangsa MP Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad (1,239). The remainder 11 eyeing the vice president had below 1,000 votes.

In Selangor, Rafizi won in 15 divisions with 24,819 votes against Saifuddin who won in seven divisions with 20,538 votes.

Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim retained the PKR presidency for the 2022-2025 term as expected after winning the post uncontested.
