PPIM: Claims on no chicken supply absurd
SHAH ALAM - Malaysia Muslim Consumers Association (PPIM) describes the action of several parties who claimed there is no chicken supply at farms as irresponsible and does not make sense.
PPIM’s chief activist Datuk Nadzim Johan said the consumers in Malaysia were often used by these parties to raise prices or gain profits.
Hence, he reminded irresponsible parties not to create panic among the consumers.
“In the issue involving no chicken stock at markets, retailers can and should lodge reports to the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry or bring the case to court if deemed necessary.
“Farm operators have signed contracts to supply chickens to suppliers or wholesalers.
“What is the use of them raising chickens if there are no buyers, they will try to get contacts to supply chickens to the suppliers or wholesalers in bulk at least for six months or a year,” he said in a statement today.
At the same time, Nadzim urged the government not to bow down to the demands of parties who were only interested in profits, including duping consumers for its own gain.
“Do not burden the consumers with senseless problems. Consumers should be smart in analysing the situation and to control the country’s market situation.
“If the farm cannot supply chickens, as consumers we can choose to purchase from other parties who are more responsible,” he said.
