ALOR SETAR - Shortage of chicken supply at Alor Setar Central Market here saw most traders packing up and leaving their premises early.

A survey saw almost all shops selling the poultry had shut down their business early.

A trader, Mohd Lutfi Abdul Ghani, 62, said he had run out of chicken supply.

“Since Hari Raya, I only received 120 chickens a day instead the usual of 600 chickens a day.

"I had to immediately close my shop as customers rushed to buy chicken. I did not want to disappoint them," he told Sinar Harian.

Another trader, Mohd Zahir Zainal Abidin, 68, said he closed his premise as early as 10am after running out of chicken supply.

"By 10 am, I ran out of chicken supply," he said.

For Wan Mohd Afiq Wan Ahmad Fauzi, 25, on the other hand, traders usually segregate the chicken for the customers who has make early bookings.

"If walk-in customers come early, they still have a chance. Those who are late may not get one unless they have a booking with us," he said.
