‘Opposition too comfortable to make changes’ - Syed Saddiq

SHAH ALAM - Muda president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman has expressed his concern over the opposition's refusal to make changes despite facing defeats in several series of elections.

The Muar MP said the biggest enemy of the opposition bloc at the moment was the party itself, as it was seen as being ‘too comfortable’ to make a change.

"We feel comfortable despite losing elections after elections. In fact, Umno has been making more changes than we do. I don’t think people are aware of this.

“During the Melaka state election, Umno fielded more young politicians and they also did that in the Johor polls.

“They are more willing to make a change in their leadership than we are. We can see it through how often they change state leaders,” he said speaking at a forum on a new book written by former Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Mohamad Ariff Md Yusof, “Parliament, Unexpected”.

The forum in which Syed Saddiq was one of the panellist was held at the Sogo Convention Hall in Kuala Lumpur on Thursday.

Syed Saddiq said it would be a big mistake if the opposition was just a party that delivers a message for a reform but was not able to implement it.

He said the opposition's refusal to change would only contribute to the defeat in the next General Election (GE).
