PASIR MAS – Attempts made by 11 illegal immigrants from Myanmar who hid in a bush near the Tok Wali Islamic Cemetery, Kelar to avoid getting caught were foiled when the police discovered them on Tuesday.

In the 10.30am operation, a raiding team from the Pasir Mas district police headquarters arrested all the illegal immigrants aged between four and 25.

District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Nasaruddin M Nasir said following a tip off, the team raided a bush area near the cemetery ground upon the information.

"Upon arrival at the location, the raiding party found a group of women hiding in the area," he said in a statement here on Tuesday.

Nasaruddin said the women failed to provide any valid documents of identification to enter the country and they were brought back to the police station for further action.

"The case is being investigated under Section 6 (1) (C) of the Immigration Act 1959/63," he said.
