Post-mortem on three USAS students to be conducted in Taiping, today
KUALA KANGSAR - The post-mortem on three out of the five Universiti Sultan Azlan Shah (USAS) students who died in an accident at KM245.2 of the North-South Expressway northbound near the Menora Tunnel will be conducted at the Taiping Hospital, today.
Kuala Kangsar district police chief Assistant Commissioner Omar Bakhtiar Yaacob said the process would be carried out to obtain a full report of their deaths.
He said the post-mortem of the other two victims was completed last night and their remains had been claimed by their families for the funeral process.
"There are still three more bodies to be autopsied. The autopsy of the bodies will be conducted at the Forensics Unit today (Friday)," he said when contacted today.
He added that the family members of the victims have provided samples for the deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) testing.
"We will wait for the full autopsy report from the hospital first before allowing the family members to claim the bodies," he said.
Yesterday, the bodies of the two other students who were killed in the tragic accident have been claimed by their family members.
The two were identified as Ahmad Naim Najmi Ahmad Hafizan, 21, from Kemaman, Terengganu and Ahmad Akmal Ahmad Mokhlis, 20, from Parit Buntar, Perak.
Their remains were taken to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun USAS Mosque last night for the funeral prayers before being brought back to their respective hometowns.
On Wednesday, five USAS students in a Honda City were burnt to death after the car caught fire after being hit by a trailer lorry.
In the 12.52am incident, Ahmad Naim was sitting in the front passenger seat while Ahmad Akmal sat at the left side of the back seat.
The three other victims were Muhammad Nasrun Aidol Munir Akbar, 22, who was the driver, and Iqbal Hasnun Halimi, 23, and Muhammad Nabil Haikal Muhammad Fariz, 19, who both sat at the back seat.
