SHAH ALAM - PKR President Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim says the May 11 debate between two contenders to be his deputy was a "discussion" not a debate.

The debate is between Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution and Rafizi Ramli on May 11, a 90-minute programme titled “Berani Semuka: Siapa Layak Bersama Anwar?”, organised by Sinar Harian.

He said it cannot be considered a debate as both are from the same party.

“Debates are more like the upcoming programme between former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and me, because we have vastly different thought patterns and policies.

“But (the Berani Semuka programme) involving the two candidates from the same party, it’s more of a discussion on new strategies,” he was quoted in Sinar Harian.

Due to that, Anwar said Sinar Harian and Astro Awani should look at formating the programme.

The programme involving Rafizi and Saifuddin will start at 3pm on May 11 and will be aired live across all of Sinar Harian’s platforms.

This comes before the party’s elections for the 2022-2025 term are held from May 13 to 18.
