Police nab two men over possession of 408.46g drugs
KUALA TERENGGANU – Police nabbed two men following the discovery of 408.26 grams of drugs hidden in their car in an operation near the toll entrance here on Friday.
Terengganu police Traffic Enforcement Investigation Department Superintendent Ismail Man said the men aged 29 and 31 who worked as a restaurant crew and a lorry driver were arrested at about 3am in the operation.
“The suspect who resides in Kuantan, Pahang was driving a Proton Satria when he went through the roadblock.
“Further checks on the vehicle revealed red pills believed to be methamphetamine with a gross weight of 408.26 grams,” he said in a statement today.
Ismail said urine tests showed that both men tested positive for methamphetamine.
In the same roadblock, police arrested a 34-year-old man from Kuala Terengganu who tested positive for the same drug.
“The cases are being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Section 15(1)(a) of the same act,” he said.
Ismail added a total of 150 summonses were issued to traffic offenders for various misconducts in the state-wide operation.
He said two motorcycles were also seized for unlawful modifications and not having a valid driving license.
Meanwhile, Ismail said in conjunction with Op Selamat, traffic police would monitor the traffic flow especially at hotspots.
“Among the hotspots include East Coast Expressway and Kuala Terengganu – Kota Bharu road,” he said, advising road users to plan their journey well.
