SHAH ALAM – PKR leaders welcome the upcoming live debate between PKR Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution and Rafizi Ramli on May 11.

PKR central executive committee member Datuk Abdullah Sani Abdul Hamid said through the debate that both candidates would have the chance to exchange ideas for the future of the party.

“Ideas for the empowerment of the party are important.

“Empowerment needs commitment and loyalty for us to be able to shape the direction of the party, he said when contacted on Thursday.

Earlier, it was reported that political fans would have the chance to watch the live debate between Saifuddin and Rafizi who were both gunning for PKR number 2 post on May 11 in Studio F, Sinar Harian from 3pm onwards.

The programme would last for one hour and a half.

Abdullah Sani, who was also a Kapar MP said most PKR members were young and the debate would enable them to know the result.

“Most of our members are young. These members are more inclined to see which direction they can get more benefits from the leadership,” he said.

Meanwhile, PKR chief organising secretary Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad said the debate was a healthy development and culture which started with Keadilan’s Youth since 2010 involving contesting parties.

“It is important for party members to be able to judge the candidates’ ability and agenda directly,” he said.

Through the debate, the Setiawangsa MP said both candidates could relay their agenda in the upcoming party election which would take place this year.

“Maybe before this, there were statements or speeches during campaigns but not during the debate. So, through debate, we will be able to assess.

“In the case where there are allegations made to the candidates, this could be answered directly and both parties could bring forward their arguments,” he said.
