SHAH ALAM - Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow has urged the health ministry to establish a special inquiry committee to probe the death of a house officer attached to the Penang General Hospital.

Chow said the committee would be able to identify the real cause of the incident and prevent it from recurring.

“The Health Ministry and relevant parties must come forward to explain the incident, review and revamp the existing management system, if necessary, especially on the working hours of doctors," Chow said in a statement.

He urged the ministry not to stay silent on the matter.

This comes after The Vibes reported the death of a house officer who is said to have fallen from an office building along Jalan Datuk Keramat, George Town.

The Health Ministry has so far urged the public to give the police space to probe the death of the officer, as autopsy was being performed.

The news has made headways as watchdogs and politicians call for the health ministry to take better care of their junior doctors.
