SHAH ALAM - The General Operations Force (PGA) has identified 13 hotspots used by illegal immigrants to land in Selangor.

Superintendent Rizal Mohamed said the two main areas, the south covers Bagan Lalang to Morib while the northern sector covers Klang to Sabak Bernam.

The southern sector has five spots - Bagan Lalang, Tanjung Rhu, Tanjung Sepat, Kanchong Laut and Kampung Tali Air.

While the northern sector covers Sungai Serdang, Sungai Janggut, Pantai Remis, Sungai Yu (Tanjung Karang), Parit 4 (Sekinchan), Sungai Nibong, Sungai Besar and Sungai Lang (Sabak Bernam), Rizal told Sinar Harian.

He said the illegal immigrants were brought in using boats that could fit 20 to 30 people or fishing boats to accommodate 10 to 15 people, adding that the fishing boats would wait in the middle of the sea for several days until the number reaches more than 50 people.

"These fishing boats will infiltrate Malaysian waters. Usually, they will stop in the middle of the sea and illegal immigrants will jump and walk towards the shore," he said.

Rizal explained that the illegal immigrants are believed to pay RM1,500 to RM2,500 each to syndicated agents.
