Still in the city: Muslims caught off guard following surprise raya announcement
KUALA TERENGGANU - City folks were caught by off guard following the surprise announcement of that Hari Raya Aidilfitri will be celebrated tomorrow, May 2.
Among those who have yet to leave the Klang Valley to Balik Kampung is Aminuddin Abd Ghaffar, who was still in Shah Alam, scheduled to fly off to Kuala Terengganu on Monday.
“The announcement was a surprised. Unfortunately, I bought the air ticket for tomorrow’s afternoon.
“Looks like I am going to miss the morning breakfast with members of the family," he told Sinar Daily.
He went on saying that his wife who had already flew back to Kuala Terengganu, suggested to change the flight time.
“I would love to change it but upon checking online, I have to pay quite a hefty sum to either buy a new ticker or to change the flight time for the current booking.
“I stayed back a couple of days in Shah Alam because I had a few things to do.
“At the same time, I have to take care of six cats since all the boarding for cats at the vet are fully booked for the Raya holidays," he said.
Mirdza Faiz Mohd Fadzli, who runs a food and beverages family business faced some trouble following the announcement.
He said the announcement had caught him and his team off guard as they had plenty of orders to delivery for the festivities
“We had to act fast and make early deliveries, and we had to change some of our plans to fit the celebration tomorrow.”
He said his family had plans to return to their hometown in Kuala Terengganu as well.
“When it was announced, everything went chaotic, everyone was anticipating for Raya to be this Tuesday so no one was in state of a rush.
“If the celebration was to be on the predicted date, we would have been more relaxed," he said.
Taking this as a learning point and avoid further trouble in the year's to come, him and his family has decided to prepare themselves two days just to be on safe.
