Heavy traffic on several major highways

SHAH ALAM - Traffic is building up along several major highways as of 9am as motorists make their way back to their hometown for the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration.

Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) reported that traffic congestion was reported towards the east coast on the Middle Ring Road 2 (MRR2) heading to the Gombak toll plaza.

The 25-kilometre traffic jam started from the Gombak toll plaza to KM44.3 (Gombak to Bukit Tinggi) and from KM46.9 to KM50.7 (Bukit Tinggi to Lentang).

The traffic on the north-bound stretch from the Sungai Buloh Hospital to Bukit Beruntung, Bukit Tagar to Tanjung Malim, Slim River to Sungkai to the Tapah Rest and Service (R&R), the Tapah intersection to Gopeng and Ipoh Selatan to Sungai Perak were slow moving.

Meanwhile, smooth traffic was reported at the East Coast Expressway (LPT) in both directions.
