Food deliveryman fined RM4,000 for groping a woman’s breast at a traffic light

GEORGETOWN - A food delivery rider was fined RM4,000 by the magistrate’s court today for molesting a woman who was on a motorcycle at a traffic light near Jalan Bukit Gambir, a week ago.

Magistrate Nur Melati Diana Abdul Wahab handed down the fine to Muhammad Falihin Abdul Talib, 28, after he pleaded guilty to the offence.

He was ordered to serve three months in jail if he fails to pay the fine.

According to the charge sheet, Muhammad Falihin had used criminal force to the victim by groping her breast with intent to outrage her modesty.

The offence was committed at Jalan Bukit Gambir, Gelugor at about 12.30pm on April 20.

The charge under Section 354 of the Penal Code carries a maximum 10 years imprisonment, or a fine or whipping, or any of the two punishments, upon conviction.

In pleading for leniency, Muhammad Falihin who appeared sad said he was the sole breadwinner and worked as a food delivery rider.

According to the facts of the case, the victim who was riding a motorcycle near the Jalan Bukit Gambir traffic light was approached by a man who had pinned his motorcycle at the back of her motorcycle.

The man then groped the victim's breast leaving her in shock before she stopped her motorcycle.

She then lodged a police report at the Sungai Nibong police station and the man was subsequently arrested at Lorong Singgora at about 4.45pm on April 24.
