The world recites Al-Sajdah during World #QuranHour today
KUALA LUMPUR - For an hour, today, the world recites surah Al-Sajdah during the World #QuranHour themed “The World Prostrates” which was held simultaneously all over the world.
In the programme which started at noon, individuals worldwide 'interacted' with the Quran through reading, understanding and putting it into practice.
The event organised by Warisan Ummah Ikhlas Foundation (WUIF) was broadcasted live at the TV AlHijrah Digital Broadcasting Centre, Islamic Centre Complex, here.
The foundation's chief executive officer Marhaini Yusoff said this year, the event was held differently as it was done behind closed doors due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
She said the programme which returned for the seventh year with surah Al-Sajdah as the surah of choice in an effort to invite people to appreciate the true meaning of prostration.
"Now, we are starting to focus on the economic solution of the ummah based on the verse.
"The surah is the main theme for the programme today, and then for the Malaysia #QuranHour on Aug 30, and the World #QuranConvention at the end of this year.
"The first verse of Al-Sajdah explained that despite all the knowledge that we have, Allah SWT is the most knowing," she said.
She noted that verse 15 of the surah is the most important verse which invites Muslims to prostrate and submit to the Allah SWT.
Surah Al-Sajdah became the verse of choice in the programme to build a value system through the Quran and Hadith (thematic and reconstruct) throughout the year.
The programme today kicked off with the recitation of surah Al-Faithah and surah Al-Baqarah verses one to seven which was guided by Ustaz Mohamad Husaini Mahmur.
In the session, 30 verses (Al-Sajdah) in total were recited by Dr Anuar Hasin, Ustaz Abdul Khair Jalil, Ustaz Ahmad Tirmizi Ali, Ustaz Amirahman Abas and Ustaz Ahmad Tarmizi Abdul Rahman who took turns reciting the verses.
Meanwhile, the tadabbur session was presented by WUIF’s chief research officer Fazrul Ismail, Federal Territories Islamic Religious Department (Jawi) chairman Tan Sri Dr Mohd Daud Bakar, and and Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) deputy dean (Research and Innovation) Associate Professor Dr Ahmad Sanusi Azmi.
The event was also graced with the presence of Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah who arrived at about 11.33am.
As of 2pm yesterday (April 25), a total of 15,693 locations in the country and 21 locations in 14 countries participated in World #QuranHour.
Last year, the hybrid World #QuranHour recorded 485 billion hits on social media.
There were a total of 2,700 registered locations in the country and 42 locations overseas, that year.
Members of the public could watch the live broadcast on TV AlHijrah, Astro Oasis and on the Sinar Harian Facebook.
WUIF's synergy partners which made the programme a success were the Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim), Islamic Tourism Center (ITC), Jawi, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), Malaysia Public Library Board of Directors (MPAM), Karangkraf Medicare Sdn Bhd, Rumah Ngaji, Sahabah Al-Quran, governmental and non-governmental bodies in and out of the country.
