Free tolls, discounts at 30 highways this Saturday, says PM

PUTRAJAYA - The government has agreed to give free and discounted tolls involving 30 highways nationwide, starting this Saturday.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri said the discounted amount that will be enjoyed by road users will come up to RM77.11 million.

"The free toll fare will involve highways under the purview of PLUS Malaysia Berhad (PLUS) that connects the North-South highway and Anih Berhad that connects the East Coast Highway (LPT),'' he said.

Ismail Sabri explained that the free and discounted toll will take into effect from 12 midnight on Saturday until 11:59 pm the next day.

"Unlike previous years, the toll exemptions are also given to all vehicle classes for the North-South Highway and LPT as well as to Malaysian Families that will return home from 12 midnight on May 7 to 11:59 pm on May 8, '' he said.

Ismail Sabri said the toll discount between 30 to 50 per cent will be given to other highways on the same time and date to all vehicle classes.

"In tandem with the transition to the endemic phase since April 1 and the coming Aidilfitri celebration expected on May 3, the government have agreed to provide toll discounts and exemptions to Malaysian Families that is travelling for Hari Raya,'' he said.

The toll exemptions involved are PLUS highway, the North-South Expressway Central Link (Elite) highway, the Seremban-Port Dickson highway (SPDH), Butterworth-Kulim Expressway (BKE), the Malaysia Singapore second link, the Penang Bridge, LPT 1 and 2 as well as the Karak highway.
