Covid-19: Malaysia records 5,624 new cases, surpasses 70 million mark of vaccine shots given
SHAH ALAM - The nation recorded 5,624 cases in the last 24 hours, marking a lower trend of testing typical of the weekend.
This is in comparison to 6,342 cases recorded yesterday.
The nation also sees nine new fatalities including two brought in dead cases, marking a single-digit record in recent times as new cases show a downward trend.
The Klang Valley which comprises Selangor and Kuala Lumpur, still recorded the majority of cases of 4,230. Currently, there are 80,977 active cases, with 79,149 of them being home quarantined.
Only 134 so far are being cared for in low risk quarantined centres while 1,605 are hospitalised.
Currently, there are 89 cases being care for in intensive care units with 57 of them requiring ventilator support.
The nation also record 10,041 recovery cases, with recoveries surpassing daily new infections in recent weeks, this led to active cases reduced day on day.
Cumulatively, the nation has recorded 4,390,126 total cases and 35,491 deaths since the pandemic began.
In terms of vaccination, some 73,767 doses of vaccines were administered yesterday.
This led to the country surpassing the 70 million mark of total vaccines administered in the country.
For context the nation has administered 70,013,893 doses of vaccines to date with 81 per cent of the population having at least two doses of vaccines.
