KUALA LUMPUR – The Federal Territories Islamic Religious Department (Jawi) fully supports World #QuranHour 1443H/2022: To read, to understand and to practice the timeless lessons from the Quran.

Its director Datuk Mohd Ajib Ismail said the interactive Quran programme which was held for the seventh time has encouraged people to not leave reading the Quran while living in the modern world.

“The Quran can provide effective advices and lessons for the community to always think of goodness. Without the Quran, we might not have the guidance to become better and set a good example to others.

“Now, everything is at the fingertips including the Quran app on your smart phones. To ground the verses of the Quran, the tadabbur approach could be highlighted through competitions besides reading and memorising it,” he said.

He added that Jawi had made known the World #QuranHour to the agencies under it including 89 mosques, 123 Friday suraus, 612 suraus and 75 Jawi Religious Integrated Schools (Siraj).

“The premises emphasise on the love for the Quran and to make it as the basis in the process of becoming a society,” he said.

As a synergy partner of World #QuranHour, Jawi will provide the location and tent facilities for guests at the Islamic Centre Complex near TV AlHijrah on April 26, he said.

Asked about his opinion on surah As-Sajdah as the surah of choice by the Warisan Ummah Ikhlas Foundation (WUIF) as the organiser of the programme this year, Mohd Ajib said it carries an important message for Muslims to prostrate, submit and obey Allah SWT.
