Covid-19: Health Ministry records 14 fatalities, 6,342 new cases in the last 24 hours

SHAH ALAM - The Health Ministry recorded 6,342 new cases in the last 24 hours, a slight uptick compared to 5,889 cases the previous day.

Despite the slight uptick in cases, the nation also recorded 9,111 recoveries in the last 24 hours, showing a steady trend where recovery cases have overtaken the number of new cases detected daily.

Currently, there are also 85,403 active cases, with 83,528 of them being home quarantined. Only 127 individuals are being cared for in low risk quarantined centres.

However, only 1.9 per cent out of active cases or 1,657 are hospitalised with 91 of them being cared for in intensive care units.

Currently, there are 61 patients that require ventilator support.

The nation still recorded 14 new fatalities including two brought in dead cases, bringing the total fatalities since the pandemic began to 35,482.

In terms of vaccination, a total of 81 per cent of Malaysians have completed at least two doses of vaccines while as a whole, 49 per cent have taken a booster shot.
