Radhi OAG pleads not guilty to assaulting ex-wife

PETALING JAYA - Vocalist for music group OAG, Muhammad Radhi Razali has pleaded not guilty at the Magistrate Court here today for allegedly assaulting his ex-wife, last Tuesday.

Radhi, 45, who attended court today in a blue kurta made the plea when the charge was read in front of Magistrate Muhammad Iskandar Zainol.

According to the charge sheet, he was alleged to assault Nur Shaira Ayu Zahiri, 28, in a parking lot in Kota Damansara at 2:29 pm last April 19.

If found guilty, he could face one-year imprisonment or a fine of RM2,000 or both under Section 323 of the Penal Code.

During the proceedings, deputy public prosecutor Mohamed Wafi Husain had suggested the bail set for RM7,000 with the added condition that the accused do not disturb the victim as well as other prosecution witnesses.

However, Radhi's lawyer, Haziq Aizuddin Subhi argued for the bail to be set at a minimum.

"RM7,000 is too high seeing that the accused has to take care of his children and if the bail is set too high, then it would be difficult for him to take care of them,'' he said.

After hearing both arguments, Magistrate Muhammad Iskandar set the bail at RM2,500 with one surety and agreed to the additional conditions as argued by the prosecution.

The Court then set July 13 as the next mention.

Radhi was remanded last Thursday after allegedly assaulting his ex-wife after she had refused to take a picture together in a parking lot in Kota Damansara.

Ayu and Radhi married on April 14, 2014.

They had two children together, one six and seven years old respectively.

However, five years later, the couple had decided to separate.

Prior to his marriage to Ayu, Radhi was married to Shazlin Sharif on January 1, 2005, before their divorce on June 8, 2010.
