SHAH ALAM - The MyQuranTime programme on TV Alhijrah has garnered a total of 10.3 million viewers, expecting to bring a big impact on the Muslim community's awareness to read, understand and practice the Quran.

TV Alhijrah CEO Namanzee Harris said the initiative has indirectly influenced its audience to appreciate the time spent with the Quran.

“Starting as Malaysia #QuranTime, then we branded it as MY #QuranTime, viewers welcomed the station's initiative in providing a programme aimed to understand the Quran.

“I feel that World #QuranHour is a good platform to highlight and should be made an annual event for Malaysian Muslims to follow.I feel proud and honoured when TV Alhijrah became the main broadcaster of the World #QuranHour 1443H programme this year.

“The impact of the programme does not only involve family but also the nation, religion and country as well as world civilisation.

"This is aligned with the significance of the Quran as the revelation of God that is preserved in an intact state, still safe when it was revealed to Prophet Muhammad SAW,” he said.

The World #QuranHour will be broadcasted live this year and for the first time, there will be guests physically attending the programme at TV Alhijrah's studio.

Plans and preparations, Namanzee said, were made in the last two months to make sure that the programme ran smoothly.

Besides making sure the selection of the surahs presented were in accordance with the theme set in the presentation of tadabbur, he said they have also discussed with the Warisan Ummah Ikhlas Foundation (WUIF) to ensure the capacity of the studio was suitable for the programme.

“In addition, the preparation from the aspect of ‘look and feel’ concept and the delivery of the programme is also taken into account and discussed carefully for a different feel compared to the previous World #QuranHour programmes.

“A total of 40 crew members will be involved in making the programme a success this year with an overall cost of about RM50,000,” he said.

The World #QuranHour 2022 programme also has the cooperation of the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim), Federal Territory Islamic Religious Department (Jawi), TV Alhijrah, Islamic Tourism Center (ITC), International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), government and non-governmental bodies in the country and overseas.
