"Thanks Amanah" Takiyuddin says working with PH was never in the cards
SHAH ALAM - Pas thanks Amanah President Mohamad Sabu for confirming something that was never in the works to begin with - Pas engaging in political cooperation with other opposition parties.
Pas secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said his party have no plans to work with Pakatan Harapan (PH) under the "big tent" for the 15th general election (GE15).
“PAS has always been very consistent in its stance of supporting and strengthening the current ruling coalition that included Perikatan Nasional (PN).
“We are very confident that the approach of unifying Muslims can be achieved through collaboration of all main parties in the country,” he said in a statement today.
He added that the concept of the Malay-Islamic unity was the most effective formula and will be accepted by the majority of the people.
He also said with the approach of “mature and prosperous politics”, they were committed in cooperating with any party that prioritise unity and harmony in facing GE15.
Earlier today, Mohammad and DAP chairman Lim Guan Eng were each reported as saying that their parties would never work with Bersatu and PAS, despite PH’s “big tent” approach for GE15 that seeks to unify Opposition parties.
They said this in regards to the involvement of several Bersatu and Pas leaders that caused the downfall of the PH government back in 2020, what now has been remembered as the Sheraton Move. Mohamad, who is popularly known as Mat Sabu, said that it was not possible for PH to cooperate with traitors that have clearly betrayed the people’s trust and mandate.
The Kota Raja MP further clarified that traitors in this context were merely labelled to those who had switched allegiances and stood with Bersatu and PN.
He, however, stated that PH should keep its door open to Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s Pejuang, the Shafie Apdal-led Warisan and Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman’s Muda, as these parties and leaders did not betray the people’s mandate.
Meanwhile, Lim was quoted by Utusan Malaysia earlier today that he did not want to meet with Bersatu President Tan Sri Muhyiddin to discuss any possible cooperation as he was one of the masterminds behind the Sheraton Move.
