Muda focused on the people, not seats
KOTA KINABALU - People are not interested to know about our seat targets for the 15th General Election (GE15) but instead want their problems resolved.
Muda president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman said his party was focused on having dialogues with community representatives to understand better their daily issues.
“Seat discussions, politics of power - many people are tired of hearing it.
“It is better to discuss cooperation because the most important thing people want to hear right now is how to solve their probelms.
"If people say the cost of living in the Peninsula is difficult, it is worse in Sabah due to the Kabotag policy.
“The issue of education gap is much worse in Sabah as well as the issue of poverty is much worse," he told reporters during the Muda townhall on Sunday night.
Syed saddiq said this when asked whether the party was eyeing a seat in Sabah for the upcoming GE.
The townhall was held in conjunction with Jelajah President, in Karamunsing here.
Commenting further, he said wanted Muda Sabah to monitor the the policies and initiatives by the state government in relations to the problems faced by the people.
“Recently, a total of RM150 million plus another RM145 million was announced for the tablet and laptop donation programme by the state government.
"I want Muda Sabah to demand where are the laptops and tablets which were promised by the state government, how they are spent and what type of laptops are given and who are the recipients," he said.
The Muar MP also said they will approach all 45 state parliaments before launching the party at the state level. f how it eased the voters. That is what they want.
We all know that those from the other side still do not have any consensus on how they will face BN in GE15.
What happened the Sheraton Move episode has affected the trust and value of certain groups.
The biggest problem they face right now is if all enters the ring individually to face BN. This is answer is clear, they will all lose.
That’s certain because although BN’s vote count does not necessarily increase, the opposing parties will suffer a split in votes from those rejecting BN and based on on experience, those rejecting BN are much more than those voting for them.
This is equivalent to them giving a free win to BN or technical victory. The state elections has proven this.
This writer does not suggest that BN should be rejected but what this writer wants to stress on is the fact that if you plan to compete, provide the best possible environment to do so.
But if it’s just the sake of democracy, might as well make it into a 10-cornered fight.
