Bella's case: After Che Puan Khaleeda vows to help, TMJ offers free legal aid

SHAH ALAM - The trial of Rumah Bonda founder Siti Bainun Ahd Razali became a hot topic when her lawyers uploaded a group photo of her and the defence team posing in front of the courtroom on social media.

Many have expressed anger over the photo, finding that the conduct of the lawyers appalling after what had happened to 13-year old down syndrome girl Bella who was allegedly abused by their client.

Last night, Tunku Mahkota of Johor Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim had on his Instagram said he would be offering his lawyers' services to hold a watching brief on behalf of the Women, Family and Community Development Ministry for Bella.

"I have contacted and discussed with my lawyers regarding Bella's abuse case.

"The case is currently ongoing at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court and trial at the prosecution's stage have started against the accused.

"I will contact Datuk Seri Rina Harun and offer my lawyers’ services to hold a watching brief on behalf of the ministry for this case, free of charge," he said in a statement uploaded on his Instastory.

Yesterday, his wife Che Puan Khaleeda Bustamam announced on her Instagram that she would do everything with the power that she has to get justice for the girl.

She said this in response to the photo uploaded by Siti Bainun's lawyers.

“I am sick and tired of these cowards who think they can do whatever they want to these helpless children and get away with it.

“You can hide behind your army of lawyers but karma will eventually hit you so hard in this dunya and the hereafter,” she wrote on her Instastory.

The Rumah Bonda founder’s trial took centre stage in the past few days and became a debate topic on social media.

Siti Bainun, 30, has pleaded not guilty to two counts of neglecting and abusing Bella in a manner likely to cause the victim physical or emotional injury.

The offences were allegedly committed at a condominium in Wangsa Maju, between February and June, last year.

The charge under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001, carries a jail sentence of up to 20 years or a fine of RM50,000 or both, upon conviction.

The trial before judge Izralizam Sanusi continues on Wednesday.
