Malaysians can 'balik kampung' for Hari Raya Aidilfitri - PM
BERA – Malaysians should be rest assured that there will be no travel restrictions during Hari Raya Aidilfitri, this year.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob gave his assurance that people could return to their hometowns to celebrate after two years of travel restrictions during Hari Raya due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
“This year, people could return to their hometowns, freely to celebrate,” he said after presenting donations to the underprivileged at the Al-Muttaqin Mosque, Kampung Mengkarak, here, on Saturday.
He encouraged those who will return to their hometowns to practice self-control and wear a facemask to protect themselves as well as others.
He said to give people the opportunity to be with their families on the first day of Hari Raya, the Prime Minister’s Open House at Seri Perdana will be held on May 8, this year.
“Usually, the open house would be held on the first day of Hari Raya, but this year we would like to give people the opportunity to celebrate with their family members,” he said.
Meanwhile, Ismail Sabri said around 4,800 recipients from the Bera parliamentary constituency have received donations through the Bera Parlianment Semarak Ramadan event which is held on Saturday and Sunday.
“We hope that the cash donations from the Petronas Foundation would help ease the burden of the recipients for the preparation to celebrate Hari Raya which is coming soon," he said.
