Fahmi Reza released after two day remand
SHAH ALAM - Activist and graphic designer Fahmi Reza was released after being remanded for two days to assist in a police investigation for allegedly posting a monkey caricature in a yellow palace uniform on his Facebook last Thursday.
Fahmi informed the matter through his official Twitter on Saturday.
In a satiric tone, he also shared his experience during his remand at the Dang Wangi District Police Headquarters which is said to be like a four-star hotel.
“I'm out of Hotel Dang Wangi! Accommodation package of two days and one night. Great location, perfect vibes and amazing hospitality!
“The food is delicious, I get free suhoor and iftar meals delivered to the room. Would love to return in the future!,” he tweeted on Saturday.
Previously, Fahmi said, he received a call from Bukit Aman, less than 15 hours after the picture was uploaded.
On Friday, the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) investigated Fahmi over a caricature of a monkey in a yellow palace uniform that was uploaded on his Facebook on Thursday.
Director of the Criminal Investigation Department Abd Jalil Hassan said, the investigation was also conducted under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, which is the improper use of network facilities or network services.
