Cops search for suspect who tried to abduct girl at school
PENAMPANG – A manhunt has been launched after a suspect attempted to abduct a secondary school student at a school, here.
Penampang district police chief Deputy Supt Mohd Haris Ibrahim said the police recently discovered a viral video on the incident on social media.
"We confirm that a report has been lodged on the incident and investigation papers have been opened on the case under Section 8 (1) of the Sabah Minor Offences Ordinance.
"Police are working to track down the suspect and identify all elements in regards with the case," he said in a statement on Thursday.
Mohd Haris urged those with information on the case to immediately contact the Penampang District Police Headquarters' operations room at 088-723961.
He advised the public not to spread any speculations or fake news that could cause public fear.
