Fahmi Fadzil, Farhash to contest for PKR vice-presidency in party polls
PETALING JAYA - Fahmi Fadzil has confirmed that he is contesting the vice-president’s post when PKR holds its elections in May.
The Lembah Pantai MP said he hopes for a healthy competition as he faces his party members for the post.
"I am here to nominate myself for vice president's post. It is a big moment for me as I use to escort others but now I am the one being escorted," he said.
He was speaking to reporters at PKR headquarters here.
Fahmi, a former aide to Nurul Izzah Anwar, had in the 2018 party polls eyed for a spot in the party’s central leadership committee.
After failing to secure the post, he was subsequently made the party’s communications director, a post he currently holds.
Former Perak PKR chairman Farhash Wafa Salvador Mubarak will also be competing for the vice president's post.
Farhash clarified that he is giving way for Rafizi Ramli and Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail to contest one on one contest for the deputy president post.
"As what I have stated before, I am giving way to Saifuddin Nasution and Rafizi to contest for the deputy president post,'' he said to reporters at the PKR headquarters here.
Both party heavyweights will be contesting against Kapar MP Abdullah Sani Abdullah, Setiawangsa MP Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, former Kapar MP G.Manivanan and Kuantan MP Fuziah Salleh.
