JOHOR BAHRU - Sultan of Johor Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar has ordered for all diving activities in the waters of Mersing to be temporarily halted.

He had in a Facebook posting today said this was following an incident involving four foreign divers who went missing in Pulau Tokong Sanggul near Pulau Sibu, yesterday.

“I want all diving activities to be stopped temporarily until we can identify what really happened to them. Diving activities should not be continued if there are doubts in the safety level.

"The rules on diving activities by the authorities must be reviewed thoroughly before it is allowed to operate again," he wrote.

He said the decision from the review needed to be announced in order to restore public confidence and that of the tourists.
