SHAH ALAM - Muslims in Malaysia will start fasting on Sunday, April 3, as announced by the Keeper of the Rulers’ Seal, Tan Sri Syed Danial Syed Ahmad today.

The date of commencement of fasting for states throughout Malaysia is set by order of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong after the approval of His Majesty the Rulers.

The brief announcement was broadcasted live on Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM).

The Office of the Keeper of the Rulers’ Seal has set the date for observing the crescent month of Ramadan to set the beginning of fasting for Muslims in Malaysia on April 1 equivalent to 28 Syaaban 1443 Hijrah.
