"Send my regards to Syed Saddiq"- Yasin
NOOR AZLIDA ALIMINPETALING JAYA - “Send my regards to Syed Saddiq,” said nasyid singer and composer Muhammad Yasin Sulaiman at the Sessions Court, here, on Thursday.
Referring to Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, the 'Mimpi Laila' singer who is popularly known as Yasin asked the former to expedite the approval of cannabis for medical purposes.
He said this when he was hauled to court today on charges of cultivating 17 cannabis plants as well trafficking the drugs.
During the proceedings before magistrate Zharfan Rahim Hamzah, Yasin said he was recently prescribed the drugs as his health has become deteriorated.
“I am worried that I would go crazy at any time and this has happened three times in ten years. I think I might need additional medication,” he said.
Meanwhile, his lawyer Yusmadi Yusoff said facts have shown that the singer was suffering from health problems and needed to get immediate medical attention.
He said Yasin has been receiving treatment since 2009 and admitted to the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Hospital, but he never revealed this to his fans.
He added that two months ago, his client received treatment at a private hospital.
"He has chronic bipolar disorder and requested for his friends and fans to pray for him," Yusmadi said when met after the proceedings.
Meanwhile, Yasin’s brother, Zain, 50, said the former's children aged 17 and 12 knew about their father’s condition and they will be waiting for his return.
“We will pray for his affairs to be eased,” he said.
