SHAH ALAM - Health minister Khairy Jamaluddin and finance minister Tengku Zafrul Aziz will be called up by the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) over the MySejahtera issue mid next month.

PAC chairman Wong Kah Woh in a statement today said the issues relating to the development of the application and procurement needs to be explained before this non-partisan committee, including the appointment of a private company by direct negotiation to manage the MySejahtera application.

The contact tracing app was developed in August 2020, however questions over the takeover by MySJ Sdn Bhd from KPISoft Malaysia Sdn Bhd, the company that had developed it has come under the spotlight.

Khairy has so far said he would explain the questions raised by the public over the appointment of MySJ as the licensee of the MySejahtera app tomorrow at Dewan Negara.

Wong further said it was an important issue as it involves the rakyat’s personal data. PAC would also question on the costs involved.

Putrajaya has also said that the MySejahtera app was started as a corporate social responsibility (CSR) project but the one-year CSR period expired on March 31 2021. The government then decided to pay for the use of the Mysejahtera app from April 1, 2021.
