SHAH ALAM - PKR Batu MP P.Prabakaran has announced his candidacy for the PKR Youth Exco position in the coming party elections slated this May.

"After some deliberations and discussions held with close friends and family, I, P.Prabakaran offer my self to contest in the PKR Youth Exco position in the coming party elections to ensure that the reform agenda that began in 1998 will be continued,'' he said in a brief statement today.

Prabakaran became PKR's youngest lawmaker when he joined the party shortly after the 14th general election after he had won the Batu parliamentary seat with a 24,438 majority.

Prabakaran was elected into public office in 2018 at the age of 22. The now 26-year-old lawmaker also said that he is still humbled by the fact that he is still learning to be a good leader and politician.

"All the while that I have joined Keadilan (PKR), I have learned many things, especially on how to manage an organisation, how to draft good laws and how to handle issues at every level of society, to arrange community programs and many more. To date, I am not ashamed to say that I am still learning to be a leader and a politician,'' he said.

Prabakaran also pointed out the fact that PKR was gutted when many senior leaders have left the party following the Sheraton Move in 2020 and have rejected offers to jump as he believed the act to be a betrayal of the people's mandate.
